In recognition of her exceptional service to her community, Dean Tresmaine R. Grimes, PhD, has been named a national finalist for the Jefferson Award, an honor referred to as the “Nobel Prize of service.”

Puppies on the Block, an extension of the well-established and award-winning Parenting, Prison & Pups Program, is serving as a puppy fostering and initial canine training program with incarcerated women and soon with incarcerated men, ages 18 to 25, in the Youth Opportunities Program (YOP).

Professor of Mathematics Shamita Dutta Gupta, PhD, was presented with a Mathematical Association of America (MAA) Distinguished Teaching Award at the organization’s New York Metro Section Annual Meeting, which was held this spring at 17�Թ���.

17�Թ��� Art Gallery is pleased to present “To Be Made Whole,” an exhibition featuring artists , , Nicholas Cueva, , , and who each unravel and reassemble identity via a synthesis of representational imagery and tactile textiles. The exhibit opens with a free public reception on Friday, June 2, from 5:00 p.m.—7:00 p.m. and was co-curated by Prof. , the gallery director, and Francisco Maldonado ’23, who received a research assistantship from 17�Թ���’s .

In other film news, 17�Թ���’s documentary film team, 17�Թ���Docs, recently premiered "For the Love of Food: Pour l’amour de la Cuisine" which focuses on the slow food movement. The movement began in Europe during the 1980s to preserve the culture of eating locally and combating the popularization of fast food.
