The Westchester County Board of Legislators honored Horace E. Anderson Jr., Dean of the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at 17�Թ���, during its annual celebration of Caribbean American Heritage Month on June 16, 2025.

In his article, The 'Realness' Key to Compelled Passcode Production, published in the Journal of Criminal Law & Criminology (Vol. 115, 2025), 17�Թ��� Haub Law Visiting Assistant Professor Gabriel Pell offers a novel framework for applying the Fifth Amendment’s Foregone Conclusion exception to compelled passcode entry.

The Elisabeth Haub School of Law at 17�Թ��� is pleased to announce that Michael Hamersky has been appointed to serve as the Executive Director of the 17�Թ��� Energy and Climate Center. In addition to leading the Center, he will teach Natural Resources Law at the Law School. Over nearly four decades, the 17�Թ��� Energy and Climate Center has established itself as a national leader working at the intersection of energy and the environment.

In her article, Representing Climate Wreckers, published in the NYU Environmental Law Journal (2025), 17�Թ��� | Haub Environmental Law Professor Camila Bustos examines the ethical responsibilities of attorneys representing fossil fuel companies—termed "climate wreckers"—and argues for a reevaluation of professional conduct standards in light of the climate crisis.

In his article, The Sound of Science in Major Questions Doctrine Jurisprudence, published in Natural Resources & Environment (ABA, Spring 2025), 17�Թ��� | Haub Environmental Law Professor Josh Galperin (with co-author Terra Baer) examines how the U.S. Supreme Court’s use of the major questions doctrine undermines core constitutional and statutory principles—particularly when the Court treats congressional silence as legislative intent.

When Joseph Churgin graduated from the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at 17�Թ��� in 1993, he never could have imagined that 32 years later, two of his children would not only be studying law but attending the same law school. “I felt incredibly proud that both Hunter and Emma wanted to attend law school where I got my start,” shared Joseph. “It was the perfect fit for me, and I hoped that it would be for both of my children as well.”

Initially, Melis Ozcan ’24 LLM described her main objective in pursuing her LLM as to sit for the New York Bar Exam, however, her educational experience at the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at 17�Թ��� ultimately contributed to her personal growth while also providing her with a high-quality legal education.
