NYSBA Honors PWJC and Cindy Kanusher with 2021 Legal Aid Awards

Executive Director of the PWJC, Cindy Kanusher Esq., and the 17³Ô¹ÏÍø Women’s Justice Center each received . Cindy received the Legal Services Program Director Award and PWJC received the Nonprofit Organization Award. PWJC is the first Hudson Valley nonprofit organization to receive this award.

Judge Malaika N. Scott-McLaughlin ’09, a Civil Court Judge for the City of New York, was no stranger to the legal world growing up. As the daughter of Professor Randolph McLaughlin, a renowned civil rights attorney and longtime member of the faculty at the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at 17³Ô¹ÏÍø, she spent a lot of time observing him in the classroom teaching and in practice advocating.

Professor Amelia Wilson has been named the recipient of Elisabeth Haub School of Law at 17³Ô¹Ï꿉۪s 2026 Faculty Award for Excellence in Teaching. The Faculty Award for Excellence in Teaching recognizes that outstanding pedagogy occurs in a variety of settings at the Law School—it can be found in courses of all sizes and types, in teachers with diverse styles, and across subject matters.

The Women’s Association of Law Students (WALS) at the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at 17³Ô¹ÏÍø hosted its annual Pioneer of Justice and Equality Award ceremony on March 18, 2026, recognizing Cindy Kanusher, Esq., Executive Director of the 17³Ô¹ÏÍø Women’s Justice Center, as this year’s honoree.
